Premium Handset Protection is a service provided by Assurant Solutions and offered by T-Mobile that provides device replacement coverage for accidental damage; malfunction due to a mechanical breakdown; loss; and theft, even after the manufacturer’s warranty expires.

Enroll in Premium Handset Protection (PHP)

T-Mobile offers this benefit to help you protect your phone. You’re not required to purchase PHP in order to activate service with T-Mobile. But, without protection, you may be responsible for the full replacement cost of your phone. You can enroll in Premium Handset Protection® (PHP) within 14 days of a qualified T-Mobile phone purchase.

You can enroll in Premium Handset Protection through several ways:

You may already have coverage through homeowner’s insurance or other means (T-Mobile is not qualified to evaluate your existing insurance coverage). Keep in mind, if you have other coverage, the deductible you’d have to pay with another insurer may be higher. Premium Handset Protection is a service provided by Assurant Solutions and offered by T-Mobile that provides device replacement coverage as listed above, even after the manufacturer’s warranty expires.

T-Mobile Premium Handset Protection coverage

For pricing and other information on what’s covered, you may about the JUMP!™ upgrade program and handset protection services.

Premium Handset Protection Coverage includes replacement of the device, SIM, battery, and standard charger.
Although Other accessories, routers, and netbooks are not covered in this program. But Warranty exchanges are completed by T-Mobile for device manufacturer defects that could occur within the first year of the Manufacture Warranty. So if you are experiencing a warranty issue you may Contact T-Mobile Customer Service.

Things to keep in mind:

  You have a Maximum of two approved claims within a 12-month period for claims of  loss, accidental damage, or theft (Subject to your deductible).
  There is  No maximum on the amount of replacements for mechanical breakdowns.
    Also a maximum of $1,500 per claim applies.
    When buying PHP only, the Lookout Mobile Security Premium feature is not included in the program.
    As they promise to do their best to replace your device with a new one, but it may be a similar reconditioned device. Replacement device comes with a 6-month warranty.

PHP Enrollment

For New York customers only: This t-mobile insurance includes the Service Contract component (Mechanical Breakdown). Also, you receive loss, theft, and accidental damage coverage benefits. Benefits may also be purchased separately through an insurance program that offers coverage in the event of loss, theft, and accidental damage for a monthly charge per device, or through an extended service contract that offers coverage against mechanical breakdown for a monthly charge per device.

All other states: PHP covers the Service Contract components (accidental and Mechanical Breakdown Damage). Also, you receive Loss and Theft coverage benefits at no additional cost to you. Definitely, You’ll be a certificate holder on T-Mobile’s Insurance Policy for Theft and Loss coverage benefits. Note that T-Mobile pays for these benefits on your behalf. There are no separate insurance fees.

As we all know T-Mobile’s employees are not fully-licensed insurance agents. Premium Handset Protection could duplicate other insurance coverages, such as homeowner’s or renter’s insurance, that you may have. The Program’s insurance coverage would be primary to any such other coverage. T-Mobile and its employees are not qualified or licensed to guage the adequacy of the purchaser’s existing insurance coverages. Subscribers can check with their commissioned agents for a private insurance assessment.

T-Mobile Insurance

T-Mobile receives compensation for the amount you pay every month.
You are eligible for a most of two approved claims before twelve (12) month of accident, loss or theft. A per occurrence limit of $1,500 applies to every lined loss. There is no limit for approved  phone insurance claim for mechanical and electrical breakdown.

How to file a claim for T-Mobile Insurance Coverage

Phone insurance claim must be filed by you before ninety days of the incident, unless otherwise required by state law. Following information should be handed: Device’s mobile range, manufacturer, make and model;  Electronic Serial range or IMEI; credit card/debit card/eCheck for deductible payment.

T-Mobile Phone Replacement

Replacement devices may be a reconditioned one of like sort and quality. If a reconditioned device is not obtainable, replacement will be a brand new device of like sort and quality. Replacement device comes with a 6-month warranty.

A non-refundable deductible of $20, $50, $100, $150 or $175, depending on your device, apply to each approved accidental harm, loss and theft claim. Deductible may be collected from you by debit card, credit card or eCheck. A $5 processing fee can apply for every approved mechanical or electrical breakdown claims. Premium Handset Protection covers the device and sure accessories, when needed. Accessories covered as half of a loss include customary chargers, batteries, and SIM cards.

Please remember that broken or bad devices should be came before 10 days of receiving your replacement device. If the device is not returned, you will be charged an unrecovered equipment fee to not exceed $900.

Causes of Loss Not Covered: Losses caused or resulting from the following don’t seem to be covered: corrosion or rust; pre-existing conditions; failure to follow manufacturer’s maintenance recommendations; intentional or dishonest acts; repair or service; power fluctuations; delay or loss of market, loss of income or interruption of business; and inherent style defects. Additional Cause of Loss Not covered for Pay-in-Advance customers: prices redeemable underneath any product warrant. Refer to coverage documents for an entire list of exclusions.

Term: Coverage starts at 12:01 a.m. on the date of your enrollment. You must enter within the set up among fourteen days of buying your new eligible T-Mobile device.
