Not considering the recent addition of the Fingerprint and Iris Scanner technologies, This Smartphone-buying guide covers more important features you need to check before you buy a Smartphone, ranging from the Operating system the Ram and the Internal storage space to the Camera and the Battery life. Use this advice to make sure you get the very best handset for your needs and budget.

CAMERA

We've now arrived at a point in Smartphone evolution where the camera matters more than the processor, especially since most people use their phones as their primary shooters. More and more Smartphone’s boast cameras with at least 12 megapixels, but don't go by numbers alone. Instead, pay attention to image quality, aperture, pixel size, speed and features.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge currently offer the best cameras on any phone. Their dual-pixel cameras offer lightning-quick autofocus and take great pictures in low light, thanks to the wide f/1.7 aperture (lower numbers are better). By contrast, the 12-megapixel insight cameras on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have an aperture of f/2.2.

 RAM

Random Access Memory, it is a common term but many do not really understand its concept. Even for old model type of phones such as those that ran on the Symbian OS, RAM is a thing of essential value as it has its crucial use in a phone mostly Androids for which it is indispensable for the now and can’t be overlooked.
I’m not about to hit you with geeky terms that will only confuse your understanding about RAM already, but let’s put it this way: LOW RAM, SLOW MOVEMENTS.
When that Android you intend to buy comes with attractive features but has has low ram, those features are as useless as 10kb of internet surfing data is to instagram.
The best smartphone buying guide

RAM is temporary memory to which every app on your phone has access, they don’t get to reside there or save their data there permanently but they can come have a stay there from time to time. Let’s make out some instance. If you’re editing a picture on your phone or you are making a video or an audio record, you are creating some data which is being handled by an app, however the app needs a something to lean on to run effectively and that’s where our dear RAM comes in, it will take up the responsibility of that for the app until the app is through with the process and saves the data generated on the phone’ ROM or Micro Storage Disk and closes.
So the more the data being handled by the app the more the RAM needed, Get it? So RAM which helps the phone’s movement has to come in a considerably okay quantity else movement gets hiccups easily ‘because if you buy that ‘lovely’ phone with a 512MB RAM, I put it to you that once you open up to 3 applications with moderate sizes and they get to work, you start getting slow response from the device in no time.

If you’ve been wondering why that Alcatel One touch you own runs only a bit faster than tortoise, I believe now you know. With low ram even if your Smartphone runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow with 5.5″ screen, but then comes the spoiler with 256 0r 512 MB RAM, you’ll eventually hate it. It will limit your multitasking options unbearably, and you might be wondering how can 3 quite mid sized app just eat up a whole 512MB RAM, answer is: If the phone is said to come with that RAM size you’ll probably have only 256-340 at your disposal as the rest will be taking toll of by system apps, those apps that aren’t for your use but needed to keep the phone’s system running.
The best smartphone buying guide

The least RAM size I’d advice you go for is 1GB, when system apps are done taking their share, you’d be having nothing less than about 700MB at your disposal and that’s pretty okay for multitasking though not GREAT.
The second thing one should not miss looking out for is the internal storage space. I’m not going to be writing much like I did on RAM on this.

INTERNAL STORAGE

Given that some games can easily take up more than 1GB — not to mention how many high-res photos and videos Smartphone owners are capturing — we highly recommend opting for as much internal storage as possible. The minimum on most handsets, like the iPhone 6, is 16GB, but more phones (such as the Galaxy S7) are coming standard with 32GB. We recommend 32GB or more.

A microSD card can help expand your storage. It's available on phones such as the Galaxy S7, the LG G5 and the HTC 10. You can pick up a 128GB microSD for as little as $40. Next is the battery life, in fact, this particular feature has become the talk of the day.

BATTERY LIFE

Many factors — including the screen size, processor and operating system — determine how long a Smartphone lasts on a charge. However, shoppers looking for the longest endurance possible should really consider the endurance, capacity and ratting. We consider any phone that lasts longer than 8 hours of straight 4G LTE surfing to be acceptable, but greater than 9 hours is better.

ANDROID OPERATING SYSTEM

Just like iPhones have their iOS which they run on so has Android phones. Version upgrades keep coming, and the old one is never better than the new one, they do make sure of that. Below is the list of android versions that has come into existence since they started getting confectionery code names;\

·        Donut (1.6)
·        Eclair (2.0–2.1)
·        Froyo (2.2–2.2.3)
·        Gingerbread (2.3–2.3.7)
·        Honeycomb (3.0–3.2.6) [a]
·        Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0–4.0.4)
·        Jelly Bean (4.1–4.3.1)
·        KitKat (4.4–4.4.4, 4.4W–4.4W.2)
·        Lollipop (5.0–5.1.1)
·        Marshmallow (6.0)

The reason why I brought you the list is for you to take a very good look at the strata, if you go for Ice Cream Sandwich don’t expect to enjoy all those features you’ve seen that attracted you to the Android brand. The least Version I’d advice you to go for is KitKat, when a new version comes it comes with cool features and will be able to run the latest apps, most apps that will be built from then hence forth will be compatible only with the latest version and maybe the immediately preceding one or two and that’s it. So you sure won’t want to end up with a good looking phone running a medieval OS. I believe I’ve made things lucid on that.
However, the above point are not the only things that are important for one to look out for, if you’ve got the legal tender, considerably much of it, it will be better you go for that with at least 5.5inch screen size or 5 but not 4, its processor should at least be dual core with both clocking at 1.2GHz, might be 1GHz though. But more processors means battery drains faster. And a host of others, with these tips we hope you make the right choice on your next Smartphone. Also help others by sharing it!

Recover / Get back your impotant files from a corrupt sd card or flash - Full guide

I bet you must have asked your self, is it possible to recover data from a damagedcorrupt, locked Micro Sd card without actually formating it? Well, its your lucky day because the answer is YES!  its very possible and also easy! Don't try to format the drive yet.
Recover data from corrupt usb drives, memory card without actually formating it

Some of the reasons why data or files in a memory card or external storage drive sometimes gets corrupteddamaged,inaccessible/not detected might be because it was abnormally removed during usage, dropped, formated or partitioned wrongly, virus infections, and a whole lot more.

A friend was playing songs on her Nokia C3, the battery was very low and suddenly it went off. After charging it, she couldnt find the memory card in the gallery and all her stuffs disappeared. Connecting the SDcard to a PC didn't help because it asked to format it(Sd card) and sometimes the formating will fail.

I have been in that dreadful shoe before. My 16GB SDHC memory card got completely damaged. My phone was showing damaged sdcard, please format. When I tried to format it using the phone, it would show formating failed.
I even tried accessing and formatting the memory card using other android devices and even symbian, china and lumia phones but to no avail.

Thinking the PC will solve it, I connected it to the Pc via a USB card reader, but immediately my computer said the disk can't be used unless its formated. I was like

What! What about my personal files, music, photos, videos and other datas on the memory card?

Then the solution came up because I couldn't afford to loose the contents on the memory card. I guess you wouldn't want to do the same.

Now if you have a memory card that is damaged, doesn't show up or get recognised in your phone, requesting for formating before it can be used, locked, hidden contents, showing errors, corrupted files and you wouldn't want to loose them by formating the memory card, please read on.

How To Prevent Your Charger/Headphones From Bending Too Much And Breaking

Today, billions of people own a smartphone, I am pretty sure that every smartphone comes with accessories (a charger an a headphone), but most times, we end up breaking this accessories due to poor usage or carelessness, so I am sharing with you this simple trick on how to prevent further breakages.

Are you tired of buying new chargers or headphones for your phone? Then check out this useful trick for preventing your smartphone charger, headphones, and other cords from fraying or breaking, causing them to stop working on your phone.

From my experience, I discovered that most cables are able to twist and break while kept untouched in the bag or when used roughly. After going through my share of expensive cables with self-destructing powers, I became extremely careful of how I stored and used them. Yet, I still managed to bust these cables every few months.

And then I realized this simple trick using the spring from old ballpoint pen as support to my weak charger cables and headphones to give them more life and prevents it from bending.

How is it done?

That's all! Very simple, easy and straightforward trick, I bet you aren't aware of this until now, but believe me: it works like magic. I hope you find it useful, if you do please take your time to share with others.

Fingerprint Vs Iris Scanners On SmartPhones - Head to Head

Some days after the Tecno Camon C9 was launched with great specifications and a powerful security addon(Iris Scanner) , I started thinking why one should go for phones with Iris scanners and ditch the trending finger print scanners like that on the Tecno phantom 5 smartphone.

Fingerprint Scanner Vs Iris Scanner On Android Phones

Well, technology in smartphone security has evolved to a very secure level and most serious oems are catching up with the trends. Fingerprint scanners arent new to the scene anymore. To get a phone with a hardware security like a fingerprint sensor,  you really don't need the most expensive top-tier smartphone e.g Iphone 6S, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Mate S, Xiaomi Max
etc. Even your reasonably priced mid-tier smartphone(e.g most Mediatek android phones) can come packed with a finger print sensor.

Biometric security on smartphones brings a high level of authentication, privacy (data confidentiality) authorization (access control), data integrity and non-repudiation. Biometric is a technique that can provide all this requirements with quite a lot of reliability.

Before making the comparison, lets see how it works in this two separate worlds(Finger print Vs Iris Scanners)

FINGERPRINT SCANNERS ON SMARTPHONES

Finger print vs iris scanners

Fingerprint scanners ranges from Optical Scanners(Old and less secured), Capacitive Scanners(Modern scanners, secured and simple) and the Ultrasonic Scanners(Very secured, fast and also reliable). They are by far the most used hardware security measures on smartphones.

THE ADVANTAGES OF FINGERPRINT SCANNERS ON SMARTPHONES

THE DISADVANTAGES OF FINGERPRINT SENSORS/SCANNERS ON SMARTPHONES

No matter how tight a security element might be, it's prone to have some loopholes, flaws or irregularities. Fingerprint print scanners aren't exceptional in this case.

  1. It might not work at first attempt unless you position your thumb or the required finger properly on the sensor.
  2. Wet and dirty fingers will not work easily or at first attempt.
  3. Scars, dirtyness, injuries, scratches and other skin flaws can reduce its efficacy.
  4. Some fingerprint sensors might not be able to distinguish between real and fake fingers.
  5. Its not recommended for little children since their fingers have a natural tendency to grow fast.

IRIS SCANNERS ON SMARTPHONES

Fingerprint vs iris scanners

Iris scanners are a kind of new security trend in smartphones. Although its been there but hasnt been implemented and spread like finger print recognition scanners.
Iris scanning is a biometric recognition system that automatically scans 1 or both of the Iris(es) of an individual via complex and mathematical patterns. The scans are stable and unique to each individual. Its different from retina scanners.

THE ADVANTAGES OF IRIS SCANNERS ON SMARTPHONES

  1. It(Iris) doesn't change over time( but doesn't remain the same for life) like fingerprints do after a long time.
  2. High reliability and very accurate over other methods of biometric scanners.
  3. The interval for verification is very short, about or less than 5 seconds.
  4. Iris scanning doesn't necessarily require contact with the device or the Iris.

THE DISADVANTAGES OF IRIS SCANNERS ON SMARTPHONES

  1. Iris scanners might be a modern biometric security measure used in smartphones, but they are very expensive. Phones with such hardwares aren't much and are not really affordable.
  2. Iris scanning technology uses alot of memory to save and authenticate its resources.
  3. They arent really acceptable socially and also not standardized.
  4. Can be interrupted easily via obstacles like glasses, eyelids and eyelashes.
  5. Imagine removing your glasses just to enable you unlock your phone. It doesn't really suite the majority.
  6. The Iris scanner will have difficulty capturing the Iris of a blind person or one with cataract. Having issues with your eyes affects it accuracy.
  7. Iris scanners cant be used in dark environments or places with insufficient light, reflective surfaces or unusual lights.
  8. Iris scanners can be fooled with high resolution images of the real person's face.
  9. Iris scanners use infrared lights to scan the eyes. Somehow, it might not be healthy to use it continuously.
  10. It requires more training and cooperation from the user during setup. Because of it's not so easy to configure procedure, its not always convenient.

NOTE
It's highly recommended that you use a two way security verification on your smartphone. Combining the fingerprint or Iris scanner security it with other primary security options like PIN and Passwords will put you on the safer side incase there is a biometric recognition failure.
